Derek and Tahnee’s engagement shoot was the perfect mixture of a tiny town, a decommissioned grain elevator, gravel roads, a family ranch and a few deep green pastures. Just what I love to shoot: small-town charm, a couple in love, and gloriously wide Nebraska skies. We started around the town’s old grain elevator. From there, we headed out into the country, and zigzagged around on gravel roads for quite a ways before arriving at a pristine slice of pastureland belonging to Derek’s family. Hills, trees, meadows and crops made a sun-kissed patchwork around us as the clouds of gravel dust billowed behind our cars. Then as we started shooting, the sun glowed its most lovely warm shade and created a perfect warm light.
I’ve said it before, but it’s an incredible privilege to be let into someone’s life…into their home…into their town, their land, their history, their story and their future. Derek and Tahnee love their small town Nebraska life, and they love their sweet pup Dottie, and they love each other. And now that you mention it, I love being a photographer. 🙂
