I’m so excited to share these images from my 1960s MOD styled shoot, featuring four of the NMP Models! This concept came together so perfectly, even though behind the scenes it felt a little crazy and disjointed (like all styled shoots seem to)! I realized the morning of the shoot (as all the models were in hair and makeup) that I had no earrings for the girls! Thankfully, Lisabeth was able to make an emergency trip to a local thrift shop and find several pairs that worked perfectly! Also, I had a few issues with the backdrop I’d created for the shoot so we had to adjust those plans on the run.
Going into planning this shoot, I really wanted to be authentic in how I styled it. I wanted to use real vintage pieces and plenty of throwback posing. Luckily, I have a friend who owned some amazing vintage dresses and other outfits, and was happy to lend them to me (they belonged to her mom in high school!). So I really lucked out to find real vintage pieces that were the right fit and the perfect style I was looking for! I also found a few wardrobe pieces at Ruby Begonia’s, I had a few, and the models supplied a few of their own as well. Since I only had 4 models to style, I decided to do two sets: one glamorous set; the other more “street style.” We photographed the first set at my house (right in my driveway!) and went to the steps of the Sheldon for the other set. I loved doing the research for this shoot and planning it all out!
My amazing hair and makeup stylists worked their beauty magic to help transport us all back to the 1960s. They understood my vision and did an incredible job to pull the looks together! Makeup is by Amanda Lee Artistry; hair is by Joni Wernke. I also couldn’t have done this without my wonderful assistant Lisabeth, who not only ran to get emergency earrings (haha!), but ran other errands and even held my black and white backdrop up (which was literally falling apart) in the wind, after my original plan to set it up wasn’t working!
I’m so thankful to my fabulous senior models who rocked this look and were up for absolutely anything! ALEXIS, ALYSSA, BROOKE B., and BROOKE P. – you girls are beautiful and amazing, and I’m so glad we could all create these photos together!
