I’ve known these folks since before I photographed Jenny and Philip’s wedding in 2011! I went to church with Jenny before she found her man 🙂 and although our lives don’t cross over much any more, I was honored to do a mini shoot and photograph these images of their beautiful family this past fall. I drove to their home area to make things easier for them, and even though it was a crazy windy/cold day, we still created some images for them to cherish for many years!
A mini shoot like this one almost always works better for families with small children whose attention spans might be pretty brief. But I can get quite a bit of shooting done in a mini shoot (20-30 minutes) – it’s my goal to get the shots you want in a pretty short period of time, so you don’t have to make an entire day of it! I always snag a few images of just husband & wife without the kiddos (in this case, after the kids were already buckled in the van). It’s so important to honor the marriage and relationship of a mom and dad, especially during the years where they are “in the trenches” caring for small babes together.
My favorite part of these photos is the beautiful, palpable connection between these parents and their children. <3 Also, the lovely bentwood rocking chair the kiddos are sitting in is an antique family heirloom – it looks wonderful in these photos and adds a layer of meaning.
