I love a good styled shoot. For one, it’s incredible what a team can do with a lot of creative spirit! I absolutely loved being part of this styled shoot by Blooms and Bouquets + Jillian Fellers! Their vision was impeccable and their work was so thorough. It was clear they’d put many hours of thought and love into this entire day, and it really showed. From the silk velvets to the acrylic chairs + altar to the hand painted signage to the flower petal cannon (yes that is a thing) to the engraved acrylic invites to the handcrafted gowns…there was just so much ethereal beauty everywhere I looked.
I am always a little nervous going into styled shoots (even though I’ve done jillions of them). All of the other vendors are relying on me, capturing the beauty and creative vision of the day. If I drop the ball, all their work is wasted – or at least, it’s shown in a poorer light! So it can just feel like so much pressure! And honestly since I am such an introvert, I work best on my own, and the busy, buzzing space of a large-scale setup tends to shut down my creative cerebellum.
It’s been a learning process, but I’ve learned to work collaboratively as a team member. That wasn’t the most natural thing to me (I was that person who despised group projects in school) but collaboration has been an exceptionally useful skill to have, even as a solopreneur. (I should write about that someday…)
The stellar vendor list shows just how this styling team was committed to quality! I’ve had the chance to work with many of these vendors before in my years as a wedding photographer (oh it feels so strange to say that even though I’m not shooting weddings anymore!). There are *many* highly skilled wedding professionals and creatives in Lincoln and Omaha. These are some of the best!
